Allsorts DT # 171 Layers

Morning all,

It's been a manic couple of days back at school this week, I don't know how I ever made it to the weekend in one piece, I've been pulled in so many directions I didn't know whether I was coming or going at times and I hope things settle down soon as I can't keep the rate of pace up for much longer! 

It was my youngest, Jasmine's, first couple of days at school and she's only been going for two hours at a time - I've nearly met myself coming back a couple of times! I've been working at preschool but doing odd hours and I haven't got into any sort of routine yet, I do like my routine lol!

Anyway enough of my waffle, got to get on with my post as it's a full day today visiting friends, having my hair cut and coloured, and my eldest has been invited to a swim party by my bestie Fleur who's daughter is 10 today, OMG double figures!!! It will be my son Joshua's 10th birthday in November - doesn't the time fly!

It's a fab new challenge over at 

Allsorts

 this morning, chosen by our lovely new teamie Sarah, who wants to see lots of 

Layers.

I love doing layers, the more the merrier for me, that's probably why I struggle with CAS cards lol!

My layers consist of:

 scalloped edged card base with square purple polka dot paper,

next I added a Go Kreate die cut shape with slightly smaller piece of blue polka dot paper cut to fit at the corners (two of the cut corners were added to the image corners)

then on top of that I added two stitched panels using Magnolia blue flurry paper and cut the edges using scalloped stitched Magnolia doohickey, and tied purple ribbon to one of the panels

the image was an LOTV new release that I coloured using promarkers at Dawny P's workshop when I went to Leeds last month - just added some stickles to finish it off, sewed the edges and added cheesecloth and a nestie frame behind

I tucked a Magnolia doohickey tag behind the image (complete with more DP and a snowflake charm)

Lastly I added flowers (big white one - WOC, others unknown origin!) and tucked some nestie foliage in between.

Phew, that was a lot of layers to describe!

Allsorts #170 Anything but a square or rectangle

Morning blogland, I can't quite believe it's the first of September today, where has the summer gone! Fingers crossed that we have a warm autumn :0)

I feel all refreshed after my holiday, albeit a short Mon-Fri break, to Skipsea (east coast,Yorkshire). The weather was mixed but that didn't stop us, the kids found staying in the caravan sooooo exciting, and Cocoa the delinquant puppy behaved herself (could it be that at the ripe old age of 9 months she is starting to fall into the family's routine?) Never! my OH scoffs from the other side of the sofa, she's a boxer lol, I have to agree!

- how fun! I just had to make one of these cute baby carriages, I followed the fab tutorial that was in  Magnolia Ink magazine. Although it's not very big, it could still be given as a New Baby or Christening gift with something cute tucked inside!

An ickle bit of news

Hi everyone,

No card tonight/this morning, I'm up far too late but just had to post my ickle bit of news as I'm on my jolly hollies tomorrow/today?! and it just won't wait until I'm back......

OMG! I had to do a double take when I saw that they had picked me to join them over at Totally Tilda, I just can't wait to get started! They are such a friendly bunch of ladies and I feel honored to be on yet another amazing DT - I must be doing something right, right? 

Needless to say I can't stop grinning, people must think I'm off my rocker, but I don't care lol!

Fussy and Fancy #70 Back to School

Morning all,

I had a wonderful surprise yesterday, my husband took me out for our anniversary to see Dirty Dancing at the Birmingham Hippodrome and it was amazing! I've never been to a show before and I was sooooo excited, the whole evening was magical and I've got the bug now and want to go to see more shows lol!

It's Friday and that means another

Back to School

 this time!

I usually struggle with this theme, but there are loads of challenge blogs with the same idea at the minute and after blog hopping I was totally inspired to make something new! I decided to make a binder for my four year old daughter as a keepsake as she starts school in a couple of weeks - eeek, my kids are growing up too fast!

My sewing machine got another outing on this project and think the stitching finishes it off perfectly - I know it's nothing new in the crafting world but it's a big deal to me as I have had my sewing machine since Christmas (and wanted one long before that) and have only just plucked up the courage to use it, and I also had some teething troubles with it as I had cheap cotton which kept breaking. To get the perfect stitching around the image I turned the handwheel manually instead of using the foot pedal, my wrist ached afterwards but it was so worth it!

Allsorts DT #168 Heavy Metal

Morning everyone,

I can't believe it's a week since I was in Leeds at the fab LOTV shop! I had a brilliant time, everyone was sooooo friendly and I got on really well in the promarker workshop - I will be making a card with the image I coloured so watch this space for that one lol! Dawny P, who took the class was lovely, really friendly and down to earth. The class was very professional and ran so smoothly, and the hour went far too fast - it just goes to prove how time really does fly when you're having that much fun! I also spent too much, well you can't go all that way and then not buy anything can you?

 challenge, this week hosted by Helene, who has given us a theme of 

Heavy Metal.

I decided to use a charm and I made my flower out of tinfoil! This is a very CAS card, not like me at all, but I guess I needed to take a couple of weeks off from my usual 'busy' style. When I look at this card I feel it represents the decluttering of the mind and I now feel refreshed.

Got to love you and leave you now, I've got to brave the shops today to buy all the last minute things ready for school, I tried unsuccessfully to do this earlier in the week - my daughter has very narrow feet and I have a feeling school shoes are going to be a nightmare, having tried six pairs on in one shop and none were a good enough fit!

Totally Tilda DT call

Morning peeps,

I have an extra card to show you today that I've been working on this week. It was made specifically for

Totally Tilda's DT call

 which I'm equally excited and nervous about entering. I never have much luck with DT calls as a rule, but the lovely feeling that only comes from the anticipation and opportunity to work on such a fab DT with my beloved Tildas has inspired me to create a little something, I just hope it's liked :)

I must apologise in advance as there are a few piccies!

This is my double shutter card closed....

and this is it opened out fully......

The flowers are WOC, the sentiment on the tag is LOTV, the papers are Nitwits: a combo of Bumbleberry and In the Meadow  

and all the panels are machine stitched.

Doohickeys used are dragonfly, vintage tag, stitched scalloped lace and cloud. Magnolia Tildas are: Tilda with Wiola and Burger Tilda from the Summer Memories collection, both coloured with DI's.

I put a bit of cheesecloth behind Burger Tilda and added some flower ribbon and an SU birthday stamp.

I''m hoping that my card reflects the type of project I love creating, I like trying new things and experimenting so often amalgamate projects to create something new and different. I strive to improve my colouring so the images are the best they can be and although most of my cards have plenty on them, I can also do CAS!

The inspiration for the DT call was this beautiful image and I loved working with these colours!
