Midway reminder for Simply Magnolia DT

Hi everyone,
I have some midway inspiration for

today........an altered address book. The challenge is

 'Anything but a card'

and as usual I couldn't make up my mind what to make - the problem being too much choice! I'm dreadful at making decisions and so not only do I take quite a lot of time making something by faffing with the design and details but this time I also had the added dilemma of would it be a bookmark, tag, or box. In the end I decided to alter an address book, so it was none of the things I originally had in mind lol!

This is what it started out looking like....

and this is what it has become....

The address book had a beautiful flower on the front and as I didn't want to completely cover it up, I decided to do a scrapbooking type of alteration and tried to keep it to a minimum to compliment the flower in the background.

I used stickles and pearl pen to enhance the flower on the address book

Supplies:
Magnolia Aries Zodiac Tilda (coloured with DI's)  finished with pearl pen, machine stitched edges and Magnolia postmark stamp
Spellbinders labels twenty three
red paper - Basic Grey, green checked paper - Magnolia
Magnolia doohickey orchid, leaf and tag
lace, bead string, gems, doily and dragonfly charm from my stash

Our fab sponsor for this challenge is The Ribbon Girl with this awesome prize:

So if ever there was a reason to join in the fun, it has to be the chance to win that prize lol! My teamies would love you to visit them if you get the time as they always work so hard to make some really beautiful projects :)

Challenges I would love to enter:
Live and Love Crafts - Summer Garden
Bunny Zoe - Layers
Tildas Town -*Dies* or punches

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, your comments always make my day!

Simply Magnolia DT midway reminder - Pin Up

Morning blogging buddies!
Here's my midway inspiration for

 fab challenge

 Pin Up!

So, lets see those decorative pins! I must say they are something that I haven't used a lot of lately and so it was a good challenge for me to dust them off and put them to good use!

I couldn't find a template for what I had in mind for this card so it my own invention. I made three sides sort of like you would a box and then added a roof separately. The papers used to cover the frame are Magnolia and the script paper for the sides and roof is Tim Holtz.
It doesn't look a lot but you wouldn't believe how fiddly it was lol!

DooHickeys used are Tildas lace, lovely fence and heart swirl branch. Flowers are WOC.

More Magnolia paper on the inside, with a little faux stitching.

Pins and pearl string are from my stash.

Magnolia's Tilda with Angel the horse is coloured with distress inks, and wow what a gorgeous stamp it is to colour - love it!

I hope you can join in the fun with us over at Simply Magnolia, the prize this time is of course from the wonderful Live and Love Crafts:

and who wouldn't want to win this?!!!!

Challenge I would love to enter:
Tildas Town -* Fussy and Fancy* or Clean and layered

Thanks for visiting me today, your comments really make my day and you're all so kind!
Happy Crafting!!

Inspired by a song....Deep Ocean challenge DT

Evening blogging friends,
It's time for a new Deep Ocean challenge again!!
This time we challenge you to be

 Inspired by a Song,

which certainly removed me from my comfort zone....I could think of loads of songs but none that I had stamps for! I had an LOTV image that I hadn't inked up before - Little Mermaid friends, and so I googled underwater songs and found this beautiful song by Mika (click here to see/listen to it) and is the inspiration for my finished card.

Supplies:

LOTV Little Mermaid friends, coloured in distress inks
Kaisercraft postmarks stamp
Magnolia DooHickey Tilda lace die
SU linen thread and paper
Spellbinders foliage die
machine stitching
pearls, cheesecloth, shells, charm from stash

The prize this fortnight is a guest DT spot on our fab challenge blog, so what are you waiting for, let the songs and our creations inspire you! I hope you have time to take a look at my teamies awesome work, they are all sooooooo beautiful!
Thanks for visiting me today and I'll be back Thursday with my latest Marvelous Magnolia card :)
Hugs,
